I'm afraid I've not a clue what ACL's are, so I can't comment there, but I've often wshed for better group support myself. In particular, I'd like to specify the group part of the umask for each group I'm in. EG, for my home directory files (group='users') I'd not want them to be group writable (obviously). However, for the admin group I'm in, it would be nice to make the files group writable, so if I create a file in an admin directory its automatically in group 'admin' (note that I agree with the current policy which started this holy war) and writable by others in the group.
