FreeBSD has the same problem, but it might manifest slightly differently with different hardware, or maybe not at all with some hardware (this applies to NetBSD also). The wd driver is either not stable enough or not general enough to work correctly in all cases. There's not a lot that can be done about it now, except for fixing or rewriting the driver, or mixing and matching until you find a combination that works. -- adam@veda.is
