Hovemeyer) Subject: using screen under NetBSD 0.9 Message-ID: <1993Sep14.220000.11980@newstand.syr.edu> Summary: it compiles, but is suboptimal at runtime Keywords: NetBSD, screen Organization: Syracuse University, Syracuse, NY Date: Tue, 14 Sep 93 22:00:00 EDT Lines: 25 In a recent thread concerning 0.9 corrupting the line settings of a terminal hard wired to a serial port, <adam@veda.is> suggested using screen to use a pty to protect the line settings (or something to this effect). Willing to give this a try, I got screen-3.2b from a nearby archive site and compiled it. (A few changes were needed in the config.h, but -DBSDI took care of just about everything.) 1. Whenever I start screen (on the console for now), I get a message something like: fgtty: can't set group pid for tty 2. When csh starts, I see Warning: inappropriate ioctl for device ... I haven't spent much time testing screen, but some programs work fine (emacs, elvis) and some don't (more). Can anyone give me a hint what is happening here? Dave -- dhhoveme@rodan.syr.edu
