Interesting, I had an Intel Xpress architecture 486-50DX EISA that worked

I would suggest that you rip out everything but the scsi disk off the 1742,
and see if that works.  Then after you get it installed, start putting
stuff back in and see what works/breaks down.

With that much stuff in there, it's murder to try and guess.
