Date: Sun, 19 Sep 1993 12:56:47 GMT Lines: 46 I'm running NetBSD 0.9 and I'm trying to get a dial-in line to work. I see getty come up but when I dial in I see nothing on the remote end. I can tip on both ends and see characters when I type so I know the modems can talk. I can also dial out on this modem with no trouble. I have a MultiTech MultiModem MT1432MU modem connected to /dev/com1. /dev/com1 is configured as follows: device com1 at isa? port "IO_COM2" tty irq 3 vector comintr ls -lg /dev/com1: crw------- 1 uucp dialer 8, 1 Sep 19 08:42 /dev/com1 [Changing ownership and permissions on this file made no difference.] There is a symbolic link called /dev/tty01 pointing to /dev/com1. ls -lg /dev/tty01: lrwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel 4 Sep 18 20:10 /dev/tty01 -> com1 This is the entry in /ets/ttys: tty01 "/usr/libexec/getty D2400" dialup on /etc/gettytab is unmodified. Here's the version: # from: @(#)gettytab 5.14 (Berkeley) 3/27/91 Before letting getty loose on the line, I set up the modem as follows: ats0=1 [autoanswer after one ring] atq1 [disable responses] ate0 [disable echo] I've read the man pages for getty(8), gettytab(5), and ttys(5) as well as the FAQ. I thought that the man page for tty(4) might be useful but I don't have it on my system. What am I doing wrong? Can someone please help? Many thanks!
