My FreeBSD 1.0 gamma system fails to notice the 3.5 inch floppy drive, though it works fine with the 5.25 inch drive. I originally reported the trouble as a panic caused by the floppy driver. In response Jordan Hubbard kindly sent me a new fd.c, which is improved in the sense that it exits gracefully with "device not configured" but still won't let me use the drive. It's not clear if the problem is with fd.c or something in the startup routine. I'm reasonably sure the drive is fine, as it worked with 386bsd 0.1 and OS/2 2.1 thanks for reading bo
