Hm. I have not looked at Karl Berry's TeX, but I, and I know several
others, can say that Gunther's package is excellent. It is well
organized, fully and easily configurable; it has the absolutely the
latest TeX sources; he has integrated and consolidated several
programs. Best of all, it compiles without missing a beat.

Unfortunately, Gunther used GNU utilities in building the scripts, not
realizing the incompatiblities with BSD utilites. This has all been
corrected in the FreeBSD version of his TeX01.5 package. Several
people have installed and are using it without a hitch.

This package is currently available in source form from FreeBSD.cdrom.com.
It should work without changes on NetBSD, but I haven't verified this.
