I am getting ready to get some price quotes on a system to run
either FreeBSD with XS3-mmio or possibly NetBSD when we get S3
support in XFree86. I'd like to get opinions on the two configurations
I am looking into.

VLB System
----------
Elsa Winner 1000 VLB Video
UltraStor 34F VLB SCSI

EISA System
-----------
Actix Ultra Video
Adaptec 1742 EISA SCSI

Both Systems
------------
486DX/2 66Mhz, min 128K cache
16MB RAM, expandable to 32MB
500MB SCSI Hard Drive
17" Flat Screen 1280x1024 .28" Monitor
V.32bis, V.42bis Internal (FAX)Modem w/16550 UART (Zoom?)
Enhanced AT Keyboard
3-Button Mouse
3.5" Floppy Drive
2 serial (preferably 16550), 1 parallel port
Tower Case

Does anything here set off any alarm bells? If the prices were
comparable, would you rather have the VLB or the EISA system? I
want to stick to a 32bit bus in case I ever expand beyond 16MB.
I may add a SCSI tape drive, CD-ROM, and a sound card at a later
date. Any comments on brands/models for any of these or the equipment
listed above would be most welcome.
