Hi,

Recently I read an article on the 386bsd newsgroups about how to get Diamond
graphics cards to work with XFree 86. I was wondering if whomever was good
enough to post it the first time could either post it again or mail
me a copy of what you posted. It could really help me out.

Basically what I am looking for the clock setting program for use in
the Xconfig file. I recently contacted Diamond and they gave me permission
to ask and copy such a program from anyone who had one avaliable. They also
told me that if I could come up with a program to do what we need, they
would allow it to be distributed freely. They claim that the ET4000 is no
longer any sort of a secret so they don't care about people knowing how
the clock is set.

Although I found the Diamond SS product manager to be somewhat evasive at
first, he did understand my dilmema at once. After explaining the point
behind free *nix (actually I don't know what that is myself, but I made
it sound good), and what sort of PR they were getting on the internet (bad),
he sent me all the information on the card I could ever want WITHOUT signing
a nondisclosure agreement. He said that I could use the information in a
quiet fashion on the newsgroups and asked me to contact him if we seriously
wanted to distribute the resulting code.

I have been unable to get the clock to set correctly from C, however. I
am sure someone else better than I has solved this problem already. I
you could help me out this would be GREAT. Perhaps with a little bit
of proof that Diamond will really let this go this code could be worked
in to the XFree 86 2.0 release?
