To put my $0.02 : I've a HP Deskjet 500 and I'm using the interruptless lpa driver (I've had problems a few month ago with the 0.2.4 lpt and gave up). My printer is not detected at boot time unless turned on. Strangely, I've been lent a HP Laserjet 4 for a few weeks and it was reco- gnized (the port in fact) all time... I get very good printing times for both text and graphics on the Deskjet, but a friend of mine with exactly the same setup must use the lpt driver if he wants to get decent times for graphical output... Maybe FreeBSD (soon on my computer :-)) will cure our [little] problems. -- Ollivier ROBERT roberto@keltia.frmug.fr.net A 386BSD & PERL addict... PGP fingerprint: 0023C49D 2E70CE5A 26708662 B8E8D709
