This can be caused by two things. 1. The floppy that you have the first file system on is BAD. This is the problem that I had! I just re-rawrited the image onto a freshly formated disk and it worked fine. 2. ***BSD may not run on your system. This is possible if you have an oddball machine. If you have a machine that other people are running ***BSD on I would look at 1.
