Hi out there,
I have a little question about the installation of FreeBSD over 386bsd PK 0.2.4
without using the normal installation procedure with creating new disklabels
and partitions using the installation floppies!

Shouldn't it be able to install FreeBSD with the following steps:
(Note: I'm a little bit familiar with configuring 386bsd!)

- Load the complete distribution on my second (SCSI) disk. (already done)
- Unpack the binary and source distribution.
- Make the new device files
- Build a new kernel.
- Install the kernel.
- Configure the system (/etc/passwd, etc.)
- Reboot.
- Delete the remaining old files (i.e. patchfiles, etc.)
- ...

My primary question with that is:
Does FreeBSD make any different assumptions about the filesystem and/or
partitions than 386bsd. With that installation procedure I do not want to
change anything with that on my boot (IDE) and my second (SCSI) disk.

Any hints appreciated!
Thanks in advance
	Thomas
