Date: 3 Oct 1993 19:59:23 -0700 Organization: Advanced Computing Services Company Lines: 20 Message-ID: <28o3ib$46s0@cpuserver.acsc.com> NNTP-Posting-Host: cpuserver.acsc.com I had been having problems with the install hanging on boot, when switching root to fd0a. Well, I experimented a bit today, and the problem has to do with the SCSI driver or a device, I'm not sure which. I yanked my PAS16 card with no luck, but when I turned off my SCSI shoebox (which has all the devices in it), the install proceeded with no problems. I managed to get the floppies completely installed on my IDE drive. But the problem remains. If I try to boot with the shoebox on, FreeBSD hangs when mounting root. (At least, that's what I infer -- the boot has completed, and that's the next step.) This is a problem, since the rest of the install needs to use my tape drive, which is an Archive Viper 150. Without SCSI, I'm stuck. So does _this_ give anyone any ideas? Again, note that I had no problems at all when running 386bsd 0.1.2.4; it was only when I tried to install first NetBSD and then FreeBSD that I began seeing problems.
