Hi,

Just wanted to report that Hannus driver is almost upto speed under NetBSD-0.8.

The most fatal got you is the GUS driver which is crashing my system .
Interesting because the same driver architecture works with my sound blaster
pro card. Hannu's driver can support different sound cards simultaneously;
although, this feature has not been tested in my system due to lack of
16bit slots. However, once I am in a good enough shape with the GUS driver
I should be able to free up a slot and drive 4 speakers <big grin>

The difference in sound quality between the GUS and SB is perhaps
akeen to day and nite,i.e., the GUS sounds FANTASTIC and you can download
digitized sound to the card for playback or harmonization of the sound
"patches". With a toshiba 3401 cdrom, we should be able to read off
digital sound data and collect an awesome library of sound patches
to play around with . Please note that currently we don't have
driver support to read the digital audio from the toshiba.

How much does the GUS cost?
oh, about $130 and is perhaps one of the best sounding cards
under the $500 price range. There are new cards emerging
with wave table synthesis but I think just about all of
them don't allow you to download sound patches like
	the GUS does.

	Cheers,
	Amancio
