Summary: Install seems fine, until boot from HD
Keywords: FreeBSD, EPSILON, install

Hello!

After finally returning to a place with an Internet connection, I
decided to install FreeBSD and ditch SCO. (cheers, applause) The installation
proceeds with only one warning, about a large drive >1024 cylinders. After
installing the first two floppies (kernel and filesystem), and attempting to
boot from the hard drive, I get the following message:

Error loading operating system

This appears very quickly, almost instantly after the BIOS messages finish. I
suspect something with the hard drive configuration, but frankly, I'm at a
loss as to where to look. I'm using an Adaptec 1542B, and I'm not aware of
any geometry translation going on. Here's the rundown on my system.

486DX/50
16 Mb RAM
Trident 8900C SVGA
Adaptec 1542B
Seagate 235 MB
Quantum 105LPS
Archive Viper 150 TBU
Soundblaster Pro
2 serial/1 parallel

Pretty much everything is using the default jumper settings, and I have never
observed a device conflict.

Thanks,
Mike
