dear netters,

I have problems with my mouse cursor when I bring up a X-session
on i486(*) running under BSDI's BSD/386.
I have a Xconfig file in /usr/X11/lib/X11 where I set the font
paths to

  /usr/X11/lib/X11/fonts/misc
  /usr/X11/lib/X11/fonts/75dpi
  /usr/X11/lib/X11/fonts/100dpi

The first resolution the X server is trying is 1280x1024 where
the mouse cursor is correct and everything is fine. When I switch
to lower resolutions (1152x900, 1024x780,...) (Alt-Ctrl-Num_keyb_Plus)
the mouse cursor is fine again.

The PROBLEM occurs when I bring up the X server in a resolution
below 1280x1024 initially. Then I got a small white square (occluding
anything being positioned on) where the mouse cursor should be. I can
even click and select e.g. twm root menu items, but I don't see the
mouse cursor actually.

I suspect it's something with the cursor font resolution but ...

Any hints how to fix this would be appreciated,

kind regards,

P.S. My monitor flickers slightly in the 1280x1024 mode e.g. when
I scroll in a xterm window. Anybody with working (flicker-free)
     1280x1024-mode timing values out there?
