I'd like to install FreeBSD 1.0 EPSILON on my unused 2nd IDE drive. It's a 100MB drive, and is currently DOS drive D. But, I want to leave DOS on my C drive, and I want DOS as my default when booting up. I don't care if I have to use a floppy to boot FreeBSD for now. The reason for this is that other people use my PC and I don't want to disturb them too much. Does anyone know how I can do this? I didn't see anything in the FAQ or install notes about this. Also, a while back, I tried booting TinyBSD off a floppy just for giggles, and I got the root prompt. I tried the same thing with the FreeBSD 1.0 GAMMA kernel floppy (the ah one), and it kept looking for a kernel file to boot. Is this correct behavior? Finally, I saw an announcement in c.o.3.announce about the WINE project, which is similar to Sun's WABI. It mentioned that it's for NetBSD 0.9, but no mention of FreeBSD was made. Is this being worked on? Thanks in advance, David M. Solinas P.S. The October 1993 SunWorld has an artical about Unix on the PC (part 2), and they mention in a sidebar that you can get Unix on your PC for free -- SoftLanding Linux System. They also give the FTP site for it. No mention of 386BSD/FreeBSD/NetBSD. -- +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | "I am the chosen one, the mighty | "As I was motorvatin' over the hill, | | hand of vengence, sent down to | I saw Maybelline in a Coupe de Ville. | | strike the unroadworthy..." | The Cadillac rolled on over the road, | | -- Night Rider, _Mad Max_ | But nothin' outrun my V-8 Ford..." | | "I'm the N.R.A.!" | -- Chuck Berry, _Maybelline_ | +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+
