So, I finally got a bootable system running (thanks to all who helped!) and now
I've attempted to install the binary distribution. What should I get from this?
I was under the impression that the set includes a development system. Yet, I
get no compiler or includes. Much else appears to be missing. During the
"extract" command, the last line of output was something about tar skipping to
the next header. Was that an error?

And, if all went well, where do I find all of the other goodies? I've been
using FreeBSD.cdrom.com as my site. Right now I can't connect, but I don't
remember seeing more than binary, source, and secure distributions.

Also, this question has probably been beaten to death, but was there ever a
consensus reached on binary ccompatibility between the various *bsd?

Let's see, that was 4 questions in one post. Should I ask some more? (whoops,
make that 5 :-)
