   What about the following configuration:
   - GAMMA sourcedist
   - applied GAMMA-to-EPSILON over GAMMA sourcedist
   - ready to use Nate's upgrade script from 386bsd to FreeBSD

will I blow up my system?

Well, no. In no case will you 'blow up your system', you'll just
have some annoyance with certain things not compiling until you
do it all in the right sequence. You should be able to use
Nate's script, then try my sequence if anything goes wrong. His
script is pretty conservative about recompiling the world in
careful sequence anyway, though, so you should be fine.
