Hi,

Have som problems with installation. I'am completely new to BSD386.

I did the flowing:

1. ftp'ed from nic.funet.fi (Finland) to a HP720:
  BUGNFIX.FORM DISTRIBUTION.HOSTS ROADMAP bootable/ tools/
  CAREWARE.INFO INSTALL.NOTES SERVICE.SUPPORT etcdist/ unofficial/
  CONTRIB.LIST MANIFEST SOFTWARE.FORM patches/
  COPYRIGHT REGISTRATION bindist/ srcdist/

2. Made disketts dist an fix with 'rawrite' on my pc

3. Made 40Meg partition with fdisk v6.0

4. Booted dist and ran 'install'

5. Since i wanted to use ethernet I did ( 0x300 irq 2)
  'ifconfig ne0 inet my-ip-adress'

6. ftp'ed everyting in bindist/ from the HP720 to my bsd pc into /tmp/.

7. Ran 'extract bin01' on the bsd pc in /tmp

The problems:
After starting 'ifconfig' at point 5 above the bsd pc screen got filled up
with garbage like 'neinitstartarstartar...' typing ftp ipadress worked anyway.
The extraction at point 7 complained about diskspace.
When I try to run vi it complains about /etc/termcap

I guess a 40Meg partition is not sufficient for the ethernet installation.

Questions:

1. Whats wrong with the above especially point 5
2. Can I mount the HP-720 disk to be able to run bsd:/tmp/extract
(tried 'mount hps-ipadress:/disk41 /disk41' with no success)
3. How an I extract the cpio files on my HP ?

Can anybody answer me preferably via mail: magnus@quark.lu.se

Many tanks !
