I have 386bsd 0.1 installed and running, but haven't ever quite gotten
around to doing much customizaton or real configuring, so I figure I will
just copy a few scripts to disk, and then start anew.
First, system details, in case it matters:
	i486sx/20 (running at 40), ISA, 16MB RAM (1x32-bit slot)
	SVGA (1280x1024), 1MB VRAM, 5.25" 1.2MB FD, 3.5" 1.44MB FD,
Maxtor 7345AT 345MB IDE, 105MB Plus HardCard IIXL (DOS),
Adaptec 1542C SCSI-2, Archer QIC150 tape drive (out of SGI 4D/25),
	CD-ROM, possibly a 500+MB drive soon, 9600/38400 32bis/42 modem,
HP LJ2P (PCL, no PS), possibly an ISDN connection
	OS's: DOS/WinDoze, ?BSD, NeXTStep486, Plan9 + 8 1/2
(Hope to be running next to an SGI Indy in a month or so, as well)
What I would like to find out is, will all of the above be supported
(I haven't found any info on printers, and the FAQ sort of covered the tape
drive, but I really didn't see much on the modem stuff, either. And I
take it that ISDN is out of the question on any of the current *BSD
implementations? Maybe I just missed a few articles -- I just moved and
started a new job, so I have been catching up on a few months' worth of
articles.)
I don't plan on hacking the kernel much, but I do hack at a lot of
stuff just above that, especially since I am usually in a mixed
environment (school was SGI+Sun+Auspex+DEC+NeXT, work is mostly Sun, but
I use an SGI as well, and home will hopefully be the above two systems).
When are stable, full (or nearly either) releases going to be
available for {Net,Free}BSD, and will they include things like pfdisk
and booteasy or similar programs? Especially as my workplace does not
provide me with a net connection (only mail/news feeds) -- I end up
dialing out to my old school account and mailing uuencoded stuff back to
me here.
Any (non-religious) info and advice on upgrading and what will work
with my system would be greatly appreciated.
