just wondering where flexfax or netfax might be. i know it has
been ported to BSD (don't ask me whether it has been ported to
NetBSD, FreeBSD or 386BSD). i also remember that some while
ago someone already posted where to find it.

It has been ported to FreeBSD, but there is no package for it yet,
it's just sitting in our ports directory. I will ask the person
responsible for it about making it into a package.
