I applied patches -2.3. I want to use tip to access my modem in com3. GENERICISA has entry for com3, but /dev/com3 does not exist. I tried MAKEDEV com3, which created /dev/com03,tty03. I then changed the /etc/remote file to use /dev/com03 instead of /dev/com3, but when I tip to it and start typing, my machine hangs. Am I doing something wrong? Additionally, when the machine boots it says com1 at .. com2 at ... com3 fifo at ... Is the fifo supposed to be there? My machine also hung during various nroffs during the install process. (I had to create a new nroff that didn't do anything) Are these problems common / known? -thanks ronald@cory.berkeley.edu ron@geoworks.com (email would be appreciated)
