Some reasons to reconfigure your kernel, apart from chucking out devices you don't need: - Changing the timezone setting - useful if you aren't 8 hours West of GMT, and don't have DST. - Setting system parameters - eg the number of pty's - which is a rediculously small 4 to start with - I find 16 a more useful number. - I also have quotas and fifos enabled plus more reasons ...
