Date: 18 Oct 1993 11:08:02 +0100 Organization: Eindhoven University of Technology, The Netherlands Lines: 21 Distribution: world Message-ID: <wmbfmk.750938446@rwc.urc.tue.nl> NNTP-Posting-Host: rwc.urc.tue.nl Hi All, After having some problems with a dial-up line's tty settings, things are still not running perfectly. I can login now via the dial-up and run more and vi without garbling my screen, but the login does not show up with w. There's no entry in the /var/run/utmp. I'have traced getty up until the point where login_tty(i) is being called, with the correct filehandle (which is the handle for /dev/tty00). But when I look with ps -O tty, it says that the getty is running on com0!!! Which would be a perfectly good reason for the login not to show up with 'w', since I had that same problem with 386bsd 0.1. I have included the following line in /etc/ttys tty00 "/usr/libexec/getty std.2400" vt100 on secure I do have a device /dev/com0 which is a link to /dev/tty00. What could be causing this? (Apart from this things run very smoothly) Marc van Kempen.
