A newer package, TeX01.5 supercedes this.  If the package is not
available from FreeBSD.cdrom.com, then you might try agate.
To bring the agate version of TeX01.5 up to the FreeBSD version,
apply the patches in TeX01.5.INSTALL.NOTES-1.4, which is available from
netcom.com under ~ftp/pub/alm.  With these patches, TeX01.5  should
compile without any problems.

Charles Hannum mentioned another TeX port which he prefers, but I do not
have the ftp address offhand.
