Fvwm release 0.99 has been uploaded to spcot.sanders.com
(192.233.11.10) as file /pub/fvwm/fvwm-0.99-src.tar.z.

Fvwm is a light-weight window manager which provides a simple virtual
desktop, a 3-D look for windows decorations, and color icons.

Memory consumption for Fvwm is about 1/2 to 2/3 that of twm.
Fvwm is targeted at machines with too little memory, at laptops
on which mouse usage may be awkward, and at users who prefer the appearance
of the Motif window manager to twm's appearance.

All window manager functions can be performed (conveniently) without a mouse.
This is not to say that a mouse is not needed; only that operation of menus,
moving and resizing of windows, etc can be performed without a mouse. You
cannot use fvwm as a mouse-emulator which will allow you to click on
application's mouse-buttons.

In this release we have the following new features:

There are a number of new features in this release:
1. Multi-screen displays are fully supported. Read the section of the
man page if you have one.
2. Opaque move is selectable at run time. It is possible to OpaqueMove
small windows, but rubber-band large windows.
3. The pager is improved.

================>Add the line PagerForeColor orchid to your .fvwmrc file.<=====

6. EdgeScroll can wrap-around at the desktop edges if desired.
7. OpaqueResize is selectable at compile time.

Important Bug Fixes:
1. DefaultIcons work again.
2. xpaint dialog boxes work now. Maybe some other applications too.
3. xprop and editres work again.
4. Opaque move has assorted fixes.
5. Rubber-band artifacts are gone.

Observent users will note that the README no longer includes a request for
new feature ideas. I think we have plenty of features now. Of course, I am
still open to any really good ideas. Here are some missing features which I
am thinking about anyway:
1. Add a means of having the WM communicate with applications, so
that applications could request that the window manager perform some
operations, or so that applications could request info from the WM.
This would allow arbitrary custom extensions to fvwm, without having to
patch the source. If anyone has good ideas about this, please contact me.

Note: If you want to use color icons, you will need to get the Xpm libraries:
/pub/X11/contrib/xpm-3.2g.tar.Z for the Xpm library, or
 /pub/Linux/X11/libs, file libXpm32g.tar.z. for a pre-compiled shared
                       library of libXpm for Linux.
 /pub/X11/contrib/xpm1icons.tar.Z, sample icons
 /pub/X11/contrib/xpm2icons.tar.Z, more sample icons
 /pub/X11/contrib/xpm3icons.tar.Z, still more sample icons
/pub/X11/contrib/ctwm-3.0.tar.Z, pull out the icons. ctwm has really nice
                        color icons.
