A "b" is very early in the boot stage, the booter had successfully resetted the adaptec, but failed to set up the so called "mailbox-interface" next. An "e" happens very late in the first boot block, it had really finished the first part of the part and tries to jump to the second level booter and didn't succeed. Why this is happening is difficult to say, without knowing, what you had done :-). I don't think, you have any chance to boot an 1542C with 386bsd 0.1 and the old bootblocks, you are using. If you know the Norton utilities and find a system to build the new bootblocks, you can try to install the new bootblocks. I don't know where the new bootblocks hs come with, it can be pk 0.2.3, but i fear it was pk 0.2.4. My memory is fading on these old things :-). -- ATS ( ats@first.gmd.de or ats@cs.tu-berlin.de ) Andreas Schulz GMD-FIRST 12489 Berlin-Adlershof Rudower Chaussee 5 Gebaeude 13.7 Tel: +49-30-6392-1856 Germany/Europe
