Problem with XFree-2.0 and FreeBSD-1.0EPS Followup-To: comp.os.386bsd.questions Date: 4 Nov 1993 18:06:44 GMT Organization: University of Passau, Germany Lines: 26 Distribution: world Message-ID: <2bbgblINNd52@tom.rz.uni-passau.de> NNTP-Posting-Host: spock.fmi.uni-passau.de PLEASE HELP. PLEASE HELP. PLEASE HELP. PLEASE HELP. PLEASE HELP. PLEASE HELP. Hi, I'm running FreeBSD-1.0-EPSILON on an i486-DX/2-66 with the OEM-version of the ATI-Ultra-Pro-VLB (2MB VRAM). A few days ago i installed the binaries of XFree-2.0, made the right link (X pointing on XF86_Mach32) and configured the Xconfig (chipset = "mach32", videoram 2048, put in the right clocks- and ModeDB- lines). After starting X with 'startx' everything's well, and when i'm leaving X-Windows by typing 'exit' or <CTRL>-d in the Login-Window, X is killed and disappeares but the console is still locked in the following way: The screen shows all the characters that were typed in before starting X. So this is no error and everything i'm typing on the keyboard, appears also on the screen, but the machine doesn't react anymore to the commands and there is also no prompt waiting for input. OK, so far for the behaviour of the machine. Now my questions: 1. Are there any people with the same problem ? 2. What makes the problem occure (FreeBSD or XFree-2.0) ? 3. How can i fix it ? Any help and ideas are appreciated. Please Email to: moos@kirk.fmi.uni-passau.de Many thanks in advance, Darius.
