Something similar to 'OS not found'? I just helped a person install FreeBSD on his SCSI box, and somehow the partition table got really whacked out. (starting cylinder was 1200, ending was 129, really weird). Anyhow, what we did was use pfdisk to create a valid FreeBSD partition and do the installation over again from scratch. This worked very well, and the rest of the installation was flawless (aside from some corrupted images on the local archive site). Look at the partition table. >In other words, I am currently required to boot from the floppy >disk and specify hd(0,a)/386bsd as the boot kernel. >Why won't it boot from the hard disk? Unfortunately, even though the IDE controller is disabled, it will still respond to commands. The thing to do is have someone hard-code in hd0 into the bootblocks, which will cause the bootblocks to assume you are intending on booting off the SCSI hard-drive (and not the IDE drive) Nate -- nate@bsd.coe.montana.edu | Freely available *nix clones benefit everyone, nate@cs.montana.edu | so let's not compete with each other, let's work #: (406) 994-4836 | compete with folks who try to tie us down to home #: (406) 586-0579 | proprietary O.S.'s (Microsloth) - Me
