You are right about the patch -p1, I solved this problem by running the patches from /usr rather than from /usr/src, but probably patch -p2 would have worked OK, too. I've fixed the doc to say `-p2' and also recommend that you back-up your /etc directory before doing the `make world', then merge the two accordingly before rebooting. This is a short-term solution until I figure out which apps are whapping on user-configurable information in /etc uninvited (I believe only uucp). Jordan -- (Jordan K.
