My comments on "make world":
In general it works well, only going as far as the install is a
bit much for me to trust. I prefer to go through the output of
the build to check for nasties, before jumping into the install.
(I always hack the makefile before doing the make world.)

I noticed that make world no longer clobbers /etc/localtime
(that's a relief).
The only files in /etc which seem to have been changed by make
install are magic and mail.rc.

Otherwise - 1.0R is up and running, and not giving any hassles -
in fact working quite nicely. Disk performance seems to be up a
bit - the dynamic buffer cache is very noticeable for small files
(under 8M) - at least this is what I found with iozone.

Now for some YP and shlibs ...... ;-)
