LPR NOW TAKING A LONG TIME -------------------------- Apparently miket has a few sgi indigo's that print via lpd/lpr to a printer on a decstation, and all has worked well for the past 9 months or so. Now, in configuring BIND on his site, he changed from using hostnames to be using fully qualified names (domain names attached to the end of the hostnames). Now, he finds that to print something, it can take several minutes whereas it used to take just seconds. It sounds to me like something is timing out, but he says that he has checked everything he can think of, and asked me to convey this situation to the net. The thing to note is that the print jobs still complete, so it's seems not to be a "permissions" problem. Everything else works at the same speed as they used to. If anyone else has come across this problem, could they please email miket@vislab.su.edu.au thanks, ben. -- _______________________________________________________ Ben Simons Physics Building, A28, VisLab Systems Manager Sydney University.
