I have If you want to use 386bsd be sure to apply patchkit 0.2.4 (you will find patchkit 0.2.3 and patchkit 0.2.3-0.2.4 on every mirror of agate.berkeley.edu. Try looking at ftp.iastate.edu). One more possibility is to go for NetBSD-0.9 or FreeBSD-1.0 instead of 386bsd-0.1. Both are much more stable (that's what their developers and many users say - I can't comment, since I've switched to FreeBSD only 2 weeks ago (I was using 386bsd for nearly 2 years and was very satisfied - but it seems that 386bsd isn't supported any more) and this is far to short a timme to tell if it's better or worse than other os (I'm more than happy with it :-). >aquired the cku189.tar.Z source code for C-Kermit. Book titles and other resources to teach >me how to do things like this are always appreciated. There is a FAQ about Unix books in news.answers. One book that helped me much (other than the manuals for 4.3BSD available from USENIX) was and is Unix System Administration Handbook from Nemeth, Snyder, Seebass (Prentice Hall, ISBN 0-13-933441-6).
