I recently got bsd4.4 running on a SPARC IPC w/8 meg of ram. I have
a couple of questions:
1) what is causing the following messages:
sparc44% dmesg
swap_pager_io: wait on swbuf for f80f44e0 (256)
swap_pager_io: wait on swbuf for f80eb430 (256)
swap_pager_io: wait on swbuf for f80f3130 (256)
swap_pager_io: wait on swbuf for f80ee2e8 (256)
swap_pager_io: wait on swbuf for f80f3dd8 (256)
<...>
I looked at the kernel and it wasn't obvious to me if I was
running into a problem or not... can someone enlighten me?
My machine does 'hang' abit when I rlogin/telnet to it,
but I haven't determined yet if those messages happen
at that time, or if I'm dealing with some kerberos
authentication timeouts.
2) compiling the kernel: If you dont define DIAGNOSTIC, then
/sys/sparc/sparc/intr.c wont compile, it is missing the
defines for I_L3, I_GO, and I_L0. Will the sparc code
run if I dont define DIAGNOSTIC and move those statements
inside an if-def for DIAGNOSTIC ?
3) attaching another SCSI drive:
Do I have to use SunOS to make partitions on another SCSI
drive ? I was hoping that once BSD was bootstrapped,
I'd be able to setup another hard-drive and work from
there, but that doesn't look like thats the case. The
DKIO ioctls only have support for reading, and not setting.
Although thats in sun_dikllabel.c. If running with the
sunos compat code, can I instead just use the BSD diskklabel
to setup a second drive ?
Any help would be appreciated!
ROger.
