Is it possible to move this discussion to a more appropriate group, such as "alt.jmonroy.bash.bash.bash"? As far as I can tell Mr. Monroy has a problem with Mr. Demetriou's management of the "c.o.3.a" group. This apparently stems from Mr. Demertriou's desire to verify a repost request from Mr. Monroy. Mr. Monroy seems to feel this is a "conflict of interest." Most replies that I've seen seem to lean more toward defining it as "responsible management." In Mr. Demetriou's defence, I've had a number of problems with 386bsd in the past that he and his group have cheerfully helped me overcome. I never recieved replies to requests to the 386bsd authors. Again, this points to "responsibility". Having read many of Mr. Monroy's postings, I must heartily agree. HisMr. Demetriou's work is based on 386bsd, which he freely admits. He has differences of opinion with the original developers. Many of us do. This does not constitute a conflict of interest; this constitutes a difference of opinion. Even though there are obviously differences of opinion between Mr. Demetriou and the FreeBSD folks, I see many FreeBSD postings. Mr. Monroy seems to feel that since there are no 386bsd postings, Mr. Demetriou is witholding them; he seems to ingore the possibility that there aren't any postings because nobody is posting... Indeed, the other c.o.3 groups obviously aren't being moderated (although I personally am beginning to wish they were!) The point was made by another poster that if Mr. Demetriou was blocking posts, why haven't they been sent to the un-moderated groups? Mr. Monroy dismisses this as "irrelevant". Why is this irrelevant? Mr. Monroy neglected to explain this point. But then again, Mr. Monroy as neglected to explain any of his points. I've read most of the responses to Mr. Monroy's postings. I haven't seen any support for him. If Mr. Demetriou is truly blocking postings, why haven't other poster's entered the debate? Perhaps, Mr. Monroy, because there aren't any? Or is this another "irrelevant" point? I fully support Mr. Demetriou's work. I use his software, have received his help, and very much appreciate his work (and the work of many others) in providing me with an extremely useful piece of software. Free. As far as I can tell Mr. Monroy's contribution consists entirely of virtually unintelligable rantings based on exceedingly faulty logic. He should switch carreers (if he has one other than posting drivel) to politics. He's a natural. If an "RFD" to this group is required, maybe it should read "Reqeust for Discussion: Installation of a Jesus Monroy Filter on the COMP.OS.386BSD NEWS Groups." Of course, Mr. Demetriou has indeed confessed to at least two definate conflicts of interest - he "eats", and he "has a life". Clearly Mr. Monroy suffers from neither of these distractions; this probably explains the content of his messages. Perhaps he should consider taking these up; especially the latter... -- Michael C.
