I have no problem running X, but when I exit, the screen goes blank,
presumably because it is in a strange state, and I can't seem to reset
   it without rebooting.

I am running FreeBSD 1.0 with XFree86 2.0, and have the "vga" terminal
   driver running on the console.

   Any suggestions?

Kind of.... configure two virtual consoles - only the first one dies.
You can then kill your first consoles shell from the second virtual
screen - getty gets it right.

Anyone out there with a fix ?
