To quote an older movie "The problem we have here is a failure to communicate". The communication that is needed here is something to indicate that you, Jesus J. Monroy, have something to contribute to this group or the project it is a forum for. The contributions that people make here every day vary wildly, from posting patches or whole sources to merely asking a question that many people might have, tipping off those doing developement that something needs attention. You have, for some months, suggested that you are working on code for several things. Yet I have never seen a single line of code. You in fact wrote to me once, saying that Julian Elischer had the code and was beta testing it, so I should wait or ask him. The next time I heard about it, it was from Julian, who concisely denigrated it. Chris, on the other hand, has dedicated an inordinate amount of time and effort to the improvement of this system, as evidenced by his initials and names sprinkled liberally through out 386bsd and NetBSD and FreeBSD. The same is true of Julian and Terry, as well as a host of others. I can only go on what I know. At this time, because you have failed to produce any kind of code to prove that you have worked hard on 386bsd or it's progeny, you really have no credibility to come into the group and demand an RFD, much less demand Chris' ouster. It is clear to me why Chris might have been delayed in posting something to c.o.386bsd.announce: He was busy. He was busy programming, and coordinating with the other people working on the project, *augmenting* the work he has *given* to the world. There is ONE test of credibility in this group: Does the contribution that you make to the group outweigh the bother that people have to go through to read the message. Chris' messages have rarely if ever been a "bother". I have seen many complaints about yours, Jesus, that their useful content is far smaller than their size suggests. Admittedly, you have raised some relevant points about the FDC and underlying problems of programming for stupid hardware. But to date you have not provided the solutions that you have promised to be working on. Show us some code, Jesus. Anyone can post to the other groups. Post the code NOW. If the community at large can see your code, and compile it, and run it, and it works better than what we have now, your place in the "sun" of useful and cool programmers will be assurred. Until then, you are just someone who has posted large articles and made people mad. Perhaps that is your way of contributing, giving people a whipping boy, so they won't blow up at each other. If that is your plan, let me be the first to congratulate you on your great success, your career in social work awaits you... -- You are what you forgot about. Revenge is a beer served warm. |[{(<=--=>)}]|David Charles Todd, tHE mAN wITH tHREE fIRST nAMES|[{(<=--=>)}]| ||||||||||||||||||||||||hacksaw@gerbils.not.on.internet|||||||||||||||||||||||
