I'd be happy to jump on this one, but I don't think there should be a dollar amount assigned to it (especially since each group would then have to fight over who best deserved the money - you trying to break all of us up? :-). Let's make it a gentleman's bet. I may take issue with the members, but I'll be happy to leave NetBSD to its own devices and refrain from public comment one way or the other (actually, if you look at most of the postings, they're usually *defensive* more than offensive). I will pay $250.00, again to be split evenly between the NetBSD and FreeBSD teams, if said teams agree to reattempt the merger. This one I wouldn't do for $250,000 - there's no amount of money worth having to work with the NetBSD team members, and I daresay they feel the same way. Sorry, you can put your money away for this one! This offer is void if none of the conditions have been met by one year from the date of this posting; at that point I'll just go out and buy BSDI.. Buy BSDI? Sure - I'd even recommend it. You can then escape all this political bullshit and just have an OS that works, which is all that most of us every wanted. Everything else that's happened around it is just a waste. Under no circumstances is Jesus Monroy, Jr. to receive any of the money. Well, now hang on - let's not be hasty.. :-) I suggest that the first action to happen is a number of private apologies from both sides. Don't hold your breath - many of the principled don't even understand the concept. Jordan -- (Jordan K. Hubbard) jkh@violet.berkeley.edu, jkh@al.org, jkh@whisker.lotus.ie
