BTW. Is there a 386BSD FAQ? I would be glad if you could give me some hint's. Thanks in advance. I`m about to buy hardware for 386BSD: - does 386BSD support EISA? - would the following system work reasonable with 386BSD: 486/50Mhz, EISA, Adaptec 1742, Maxtor 340MB, 8-16MB RAM ? - why choosing a EISA instead of ISA? Are there any advantages choosing EISA vs. ISA with 386BSD? - Is it possible to run 386BSD on a system with both, IDE and SCSI disks? - Is it true that 386BSD still just provides single user (root)? - Are 340MB sufficient? (want to run X11, GNU software {not emacs}) - It seems that there is a 16MB RAM (DMA RAM....) limit for ISA systems? Will 386BSD with 16MB and X11 run fast enough? - Eric's UNIX Hardware Guide provides a list of hardware vs. different UNIX implementations running on them. Is there such a list around for 386BSD running on what hardware? - What are the minimal configs to boot from the "dist.fs" disk (385BSD-0.1)? I'm just getting do-for-ever loops when I try it on different systems (Epson NB3e (386) + 2MB RAM, Epson PC AX3/25 + 4MB RAM + MDB10, Compac 386 + 4MB RAM, etc..) - Thanks again Daniel -- Daniel J.
