People interested in the "why" of this situation might want to read the article by Gary Andrew Poole in the August _UnixWorld_. The piece begins, "Roel Pieper, president and CEO of UNIX System Laboratories, Inc., doesn't care about the UNIX community's past. He just wants to make money."
