Message-ID: <CGorE5.23K@swi.psy.uva.nl> Organization: Social Science Informatics Date: Thu, 18 Nov 1993 11:46:53 GMT Lines: 30 Hi, I'm trying to setup an AST fourport compatible multiport card on a FreeBSD 1.0 system. I have reconfigured and recompiled the kernal so that it recognizes the card. I have also patched the isa.c file to stop complaining about interrupt conflicts. Anyway what I have now is a system where I can plug in a dumb TeleVideo serial terminal to any of the four serial connectors and it will display the standard FreeBSD login screen (the terminal that is). However, I cannot type anything back to the system. I've tried various NULL modem cables and even tested the cables and the terminal by connecting it to another machine (Mac). The Mac could both read and write from the terminal. But the FreeBSD won't read the port. Now does anybody know what the hell I'm talking about? Is this a problem with my supposedly compatible AST fourport card? Or is it a cabling problem? If so what is the best cable so to speak? The /etc/ttys should be setup correctly and so should /etc/gettytab... Any help would be greatly appreciated :) That's it for now, Mimir
