Howdy all,

I just got my Archive 2525-S tape drive, firmware 25462-007 and I
can't get it to work under NetBSD-0.8. I chose this tape drive
after reading the FAQ list about tape drives for 386bsd/NetBSD/FreeBSD
so I was expecting it to work right out of the box.

I am using an Adaptec 1542C SCSI controller in 386/33 MHz clone.
The tape drive works fine with the ASPIBIN software; I can read and
write tar tapes under MS-DOS.

The following messages come up on the console when I boot-up NetBSD:

dev2;lu0: type 0:1(sequential), removable 'ARCHIVE VIPER 25225 25462-007' scsi1
st0: scsi tape drive, 0 blocks of 512 bytes

When I try to access the tape drive using mt, tar, etc., I get the
following message:

st0: illegal request
could not mode select for unit 0

I am using a 3M 6150 tape so the drive should be able to read and
write to it. The SCSI id of the drive is 2 and the buffer size is
jumpered for 16KB which is the factory default.

Any ideas and suggestions on how to get this drive to work would
be gladly appreciated. Thanks in advance!!!
