Can a PC (486/50'ish) : actually handle T1 speeds? T3? I don't think that a PC with any OS and card can be real replacement for cisco. There are too many important things besides pure functionality. Nevertheless it can be budget solution (although I'm not sure that folks bying T1 link think much about budget :-). It can handle pretty well T1 (I'd tested it up to E1) speeds. (Why not if PC can handle ethernet and even FDDI/CDDI speeds :-). I'm not sure about T3, but I know that the same company have a several port card with HSSI interface.
