Sorry to show my ignorance, but this is a genuine question and not a
bit of sarcastic comment...

I thought much of IPX/SPX whatever are documented in various texts. If
someone implements it "clean-room" style then no license ? Like I know
DEC have some sort of patent on part of LAT or something. Is there
something similar in the Novell protocol stack ?

Like "SoftNet" have a Sun/HP/etc based Novell-a-like server, and I think
theey now have a client for Sun (at least) out now. They worked from
scratch as far as I know.
