A few days ago, I posted about some problems with xdvi and it's inability to find the fonts for any dvi I threw at it. Well, after doing the following two things, it now works fine: 1. I went to /usr/local/lib/TeX/fonts/tfm and ran the following: sh # for i in *.tfm ; do > moo=`basename $i .tfm` > mftopk $moo > done During this process, there were some problems in that it tried to put all the pk files in /root/fonts/pk, but after symlinking this dir to /usr/local/lib/TeX/fonts/pk, everything ran smoothly after that. 2. No matter what I tried, the patchlevel 11 xdvi that comes with Gunther Schadow's TeX package for FreeBSD (which compiles/runs fantastic under NetBSD-current) just would not work. Thus, I went out and grabbed xdvi patchlevel 17, and the ONLY change I made was to make the DEFAULT_FONT_PATH in the Imakefile point to /usr/local/lib/TeX/fonts/pk. xmkmf && make && make install worked just dandy. I can view all the .dvis I throw at it now. Enjoy! Toodlepip!
