There is a version of NetBSD that runs on some Mac's; I don't know if the changes have been folded into the tree or not so that it will "just work"; you'd have to contact them directly (contact info is in the newsgroup comp.os.386bsd.announce). As of last I was aware, "some Mac's" meant 68030 with math coprocesser and work was in progress on the 68040, which is apparently missing some MMU instructions that the 030 has. Your mileage may vary, since this is all from observation and memory, and I don't qualify as a spokesperson anyway.
