For example, I noticed that under aix, an open("/dev/ttyxx", O_RDRWR) with a modem connected to it, does not return until a call comes in (the modems sync and carrier comes up). However, on bsd and osf systems, the same call returns immediately. Could someone explain what is happening and/or refer me to a good reference. Thanks, Roy
