Sorry. Upon rereading it, it does sound pretty harsh. My intent was that I wanted to fix it on *my* system. No insult intended to the writers of what I consider to be a wonderful piece of free software. I'm looking into buying a bigger drive, but it seems a little harsh to remove 25 useful megabytes from my 250 MB disk for the sake of performance improvement. I wouldn't at all mind if I had huge amounts of space, but it's more important to me to be able to use the space than to have a blindingly-fast disk. Thanks to the people who pointed me to "tunefs" as a way to reduce the number from 10% to something less. -Todd.
