Installing accounts and networking went ok... and I even installed XFree86.. but I've run into some problems: a) installing remote printers - how exactly do I go about this? (I used sysadm and all seems to be configured correctly yet it just won't print). b) xdm is giving me hell.... X works fine now (after playing with Xconfig forever), but for some reason xdm won't work. Here's the errors file - any ideas? ############### /usr/lib/X11/xdm/xdm-errors: ############### error (pid 660): Hung in XOpenDisplay(:0), aborting error (pid 660): server open failed for :0, giving up error (pid 656): Display :0 cannot be opened XFree86 Version 1.3 / X Window System (protocol Version 11, revision 0, vendor release 5000) Operating System: Unix System V/386 Release 4.x Configured drivers: VGA256 (256 colour SVGA): et4000, et3000, pvga1, wd90c00, wd90c10, wd90c30, gvga, ati, tvga8800cs, tvga8900b, tvga8900c, tvga8900cl, tvga9000, clgd5420, clgd5422, clgd5424, clgd5426, ncr77c22, ncr77c22e, cpq_avga (using VT number 1) Xconfig: /usr/X386/lib/X11/Xconfig Mouse: type: Logitech, device: /dev/tty00, baudrate: 9600, samplerate: 3000 FontPath set to "/usr/X386/lib/X11/fonts/misc/,/usr/X386/lib/X11/fonts/75dpi/,/usr/X386/lib/X11/fonts/Speedo/,/usr/X386/lib/X11/fonts/Type1/" VGA256: ET4000: Initial hibit state: low VGA256: et4000 (mem: 1024k numclocks: 16) VGA256: clocks: 25.18 28.32 32.60 36.10 40.10 45.10 31.50 37.70 VGA256: clocks: 12.60 14.20 16.30 18.00 20.00 22.50 15.80 18.90 Fatal server error: There is no defined dot-clock matching mode "1024x768" ############### ############### well... any ideas? thanks, Tamir
